Lapsang Souchong originally comes from Tongmu Pass, Wuyi Mountains, Fujian. The tea gardens are at an altitude of 1,200 – 1,500 meters. There are various grades of this tea. It is made from the fresh leaves of Wuyi Caicha picked in spring. The shape is tightly-knit and uniform, with a dark and lustrous color. The aroma is unique, with a smoky pine scent and the fragrance of dried longans. The taste of the tea soup is mellow, sweet, and refreshing, with an obvious aftertaste. The water content is controlled at around 7% to ensure stable quality. Under sealed, dry, and light-proof storage conditions, the shelf life is generally 3 – 5 years.
